Wet Dressing for Eczema Relief

"I don't understand why I need to learn how to use Wet Dressings, I mean is it really worth all the fuss? I have other kids to look after & at night time we are just so busy!"

This is an exert from an email I received this week.
Yes Wet Dressings for Eczema Relief can seem very Confusing, Daunting & Time Consuming at first, but once you get into a routine it can be as quick & simple as applying your moisturiser. And Yes it most definitely is worth the time to use Wet Dressings for Eczema Relief!

Why Use Wet Dressings?
Wet Dressings should play an important role in eczema flare up management & can be used to:
  • Take the heat out of the rash & therefore calm the skin & the insatiable itch.
  • Help reduce inflammation at the flare up site.
  • Rehydrate the skin (when used with emollient creams).
  • Reduce the need or frequency to use heavy steroid creams.
  • By Reducing the pain, itch & heat in the rash allows the patient to have a good nights sleep.
The confusion I believe comes from the Modern Phenomenon of "Google Doctoring" -searching on Google how, why or when to use the techniques, as there are also number of ways to apply Wet Dressings
including:
  • Use of Tubifast Tubular Bandages.
  • Use of Tubifast Garments.
  • Use of Bandages & cotton strips.
  • Use of Wet 100% Cotton Clothing.

Wet Dressings are as simple as Bathing/Showering, application of creams, application of wet layer then dry layer over the top.

Stay Tuned in the Next Post we will go into the various different techniques so you can see which is best for you.
